Greek Orthodox Church & Benevolent Society of St George
Our mission
To preserve and promote Greek culture, language, and traditions while fostering a strong, supportive, and inclusive community in Tasmania.
A Proud History
Founded in 1953, the Greek Community of Tasmania has been a cornerstone for Greek-Australians living in the state. For over 70 years, we've helped build a strong sense of identity, connection, and belonging—uniting generations through culture and community.
Celebrating Greek Culture in Tasmania
We’re all about bringing people together to celebrate what makes Greek culture so special. From lively community events to language and dance classes, there are plenty of ways to get involved, have fun, and stay connected to your heritage.
Our community centre and the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Hobart play an important role in hosting gatherings and traditions that bring our culture to life—whether you're here for the food, the music, the history, or the company.
